In this class you will learn the basics of surfactants and how to blend them into liquid shampoos and what other incredible ingredients you will need to make a naturally based and synthetic based shampoo. In the conditioner portion you will learn the ins and outs of the main ingredients for making a liquid conditioner for the different types of hair.

Ariane Arsenault Let's Make Solid Shampoo & Conditioners
A solid shampoo bars is basically a concentrated version of standard shampoo, minus the water and the packaging. Learn about the different surfactants that can be used to make them as well as the different additives, oils and butters that can be best suited for different hair types. To complete this topic, we will also cover the making of a basic solid conditioner to go along with the shampoo.
She will talk about patents that are around these types of cosmetics (so you know the dos and don’ts) as well as 2 different techniques: Melt & Mold and using a Bath Bomb Press. Ariane will help you choose the right ingredients, moisturizing oils and butters, approved cosmetics colorants, recommended PH range and how to measure it, equipment and tools to get you started as well as eco friendly ways to package solid haircare products. Learn about good manufacturing practices and create your very first batch so you too can proudly make and sell solid shampoos and conditioners.

Learn how to formulate your own lotion from scratch! We'll start by learning how to structure a formulation using percentages with a spreadsheet that'll do all the math for you. After that, we'll discuss how different variables like phase size, thickeners, emulsifiers, carrier oils, and additives impact your end product. You'll leave this class knowing how to formulate a lotion from the ground-up to get the skin feel, viscosity, and richness you want.
